So Who Is The New Godaddy .Co Girl? Our Pick: ABC’s Modern Family Star Sofia Vergara

Now that Godaddy has announced there will be a .Co Godaddy girl, who will appear in its SuperBowl Commercial, the question becomes who is the girl?

The easy guess would be Shakira since not only is she one of the biggest stars in the world but she is Colombia’s most famous export.

I asked Lori Ann Ward of the .Co registry to give me a hint as to whom the .Co Godaddy girl is and she declined saying “I cannot tell under threat of torture”

So I reviewed the press release for any clues and focused in on the words of Bob Parsons:

“We are going to out-Go Daddy ourselves with this one,” Parsons declared. “Who is she? I can tell you our new Go Daddy dotCO Girl is a big name – she’s iconic, she’s edgy, she’s off the hook funny and as long as I don’t talk too much, I think most everyone will be absolutely shocked!”

While Shakira is many things,  I wouldn’t describe her as being “off the hook funny”.

That clue leads me to Sofia Vergara the star of ABC’s Modern Family.

Not only beautiful and “off the hook funny”, but Sofia is from Colombia.

That’s my pick who do you got?

  10. Sounds like a comedienne. Maybe the phrase “out-Godaddy ourselves” signifies a move away from the pure sex angle and they’ll go with a Joan Rivers, Kathy Griffin, etc. type.

    Probably far fetched but it opens up a lot more options for promotion to a wider audience appeal than pure T&A. Women register domains too.

  12. Bob Parsons was quoted in an interview as saying that it would be Go Daddy’s first blonde. He also called her a “racy, iconic actress.” Perhaps a new gig for Pam Anderson.

  15. Hmmmm…I’d like to say Scarlett Johannson…she’s kinda iconic and edgy, in a way. But I don’t think they could nab her, too mainstream movish. Would have to be someone more Playboyish.

    Pam Anderson is not a bad guess. Baywatch made her an International TV Celeb.

    My guess is Jenny McCarthy.

    I made a seemlier post and made the first “Guess’…..given “Bobs” clues in the “quote” above”, and knowing the person will most likely have “two other assets” prized by the superficial male….. I went out on a big~big limb and came up with:

  58. What is the story behind the coXYZ.co? Why does putting the CO on the front end make sense?

    I understand it allows you to get a better word, but why no just use “c” or “i” or a single letter?

    Will these domains only be valuable to people in Colorado?

    the coXYZ.co domains will likely score well with search engines and I suppose it could be argued that they “look” good from a branding standpoint.

    I don’t have any, but I may look into it.

    ” Betty White”….

  67. lol Mike. I picked Betty White because she matched the description, which highlighted the “shock” factor (and didn’t highlight beauty). Also, she was in a very popular Superbowl ad last year (the Snickers ‘Game’ ad). She’s also blonde, iconic, funny and an actress, as per the requirements.
