ThePirateBay.Org ISP Ordered To “Shut It Down”

2009 August 24
by MHB

In the latest twist of a story we have been following for a while, the ISP which serves as the main backbone for the filing sharing site, (Black Internet) ThePirateBay.org was ordered today to stop servicing the site today or face penalties.

According to various news sources as of 9:30 a.m. PT, ThePirateBay.org appeared to be mostly inaccessible.

Although other ISP’s carry the site, Black Internet was its main backbone.

In other ThePirateBay.org news today,  the official,  Swedish government run debt-collection agency, commonly referred to as the bailiff, said it could find no attachable assets belonging to 3 of the 4 founders of the site.

The 4 founders were sentenced in April to one year in jail, and fined $3.6 Million Dollars,  they have appealed .

As we reported back in June, ThePiratebay.Org was sold for $7.8 million dollars.

The buyer had plans to turn the site into a “legal” site where copyrighted material would not be allowed to be freely shared.

However, last week that company hit with two major issues which may delay or stop the sale.

First, on Friday Swedish officials launched a criminal probe of the company that agreed to buy ThePirateBay.org, for possible insider trading.

According to reports, Global Gaming’s stock rose sharply a week before the company announced its plans to acquire ThePirateBay.org

Second in an unrelated move, trading in Global Gaming shares was halted by the Swedish stock exchange on Friday,  after officials requested proof that Global Gaming had enough money to complete the purchase of ThePirateBay.org site,  saying they will not let trading resume in the shares until they have furnished  proof of funds to the exchange’s satisfaction, which of this morning they still have not.

Seems like another mess involving the highly controversial site.

All they have to do is host the site in another hoster, in a Country where the swedish court has no jurisdiction, or legal agreements.

Oh My God, This has to be the worst thing to happen to the world since Christ was on the cross.
Fricken crooked Swedish officials, what they were doing wasn’t even illegal.
They were just supplying information that can be used illegally and legally. just read their defense it is flawless if that stupid judge hadn’t been an idiot none of this would have happened.

mininova is just a search engine, but places like that can be used for finding torrents in conjusnction with a tracker such as:
    http://openbittorrent.com/

in fact, all of your old pirate bay torrents can be used with the tool on their site to use openbittorrent as the new tracker (it is a tracker ONLY — no searching for torrents).
this is the new wave, and the groundwork has been established by the guys who created tpb. you may even notice that tracker addy in a lot of your tpb torrents, especially recently. use that from now on, and change all of your ones that don’t have it with the following tools:

tool for changing the tracker of just a few torrents is at :

    http://torrenteditor.com/

i think this is the link addy for dl a script tool for changing a bunch of these tpb torrents:

    http://openbittorrent.com/trackercleaner.php.gz

if it is not, go to openbittorrent.com and there is a hotlink there which will dl it for you.

    spread the word.

That is kind of funny. The internet makes billions of dollars a year through ISP’s.
It is not like the 90′s where if you could get free internet only dial up of course.
We as comsumers pay for our internet so it is ours and it has nothing to do of a compainy losing there bussness .
It is like everything else in this world, if You really like something someone some where will figure out a way to charge you for it.
File sharing is a multi-million dollar business, advertisements is where they make there money. So that in return gets us on these sites for free.
It seems the advertisments are not raking in the cash any more like they use to. They have to get there money some how.

So who ownes the internet anyways ? My point exactlly?

it is not ileagal to store any file from the net ,isn’t it really a big storage place If so shouldn’t you go after the guy that ownes the internet.
But it is ileagal to sell it to make a profit . Did you ever hear of someone selling you a mp3.
Yes but that is the people that started this in the first place. I mean in a store ,like a music store. Really can you really buy mp3s in a music store on a cd ?

It cannot be said enough: The Pirate Bay is a Search Engine. There are no files hosted on their website and there never have been. You can use Google to find illegal files too. TPB just happens to be a better search engine for torrent trackers than google, and therefore it is a target.

    Please bring TPB back!

    To all

The issue is that the material all you guys want for free is copyrighted and protected by law.

Its someone creation, their work product and you just can’t take it from them because you want to

If you really want to know who brought this to light and started the getting the file sharing sites down was Metallica.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metallica

Moreover for something that most of you think legal, TPB founders sure got hammered at trial.

So they either had terrible lawyers or they were just wrong.

  44. 2009 August 25

Fuck the powers-that-be. If they want people to stop pirating their products, they need to make their products WORTH THE MONEY!! If record companies would start releasing GOOD music and actually make their albums worth the $25 you pay for them. If movie studios would stop releasing crappy predictable movies. If software companies would bring down their prices. etc. etc. etc.

The fact that this stuff is being pirated is 100% the fault of the companies trying to sell these products. And in the business world, if you can’t make your product sellable, you fail. SO… TO ALL THE COMPANIES COMPLAINING OF THEIR PRODUCTS BEING “STOLEN”: STOP WHINING AND CHANGE YOUR BUSINESS PRACTICES! you obviously don’t know what you’re doing and your business probably deserves to fail! of course, you’ll just get bail-outs from the government, putting everyone except YOU in debt!

Well, my friend and I just toasted to The Pirate Bay, the one and only. Here is the toast

“To The Pirate Bay; a website of outstanding charisma and character. An entry point on the internet for all to access everything, and most importantly, the backbone of torrents, creating a true community for the masses”

I know how to get a torrent of almost anything on the pirate bay from another source, but the pirate bay was a gem. I will drink a shot of Rum on this day after a proper toast to the pirate bay for years to come.

May you all join me in commemorating The Pirate Bay.

All of this material is being stolen. it is illegal to download off this site. I dont download illegally because its not worth the money, if it wasnt worth the money it wouldnt be worth watching. I download illegally cause I dont feel like paying or I dont have the money. record companies do release good music (the prices are rediculos though) its just that i dont feel like paying for it when i could just get it for free. get your reasons right and dont speak for other people

    $25 for a CD?

    You should shop somewhere cheaper.

Funny, all the media is good enough to download and store it on your computer, ipod or itouch, as long as its free.

This $25 argument is so old.

Music now costs $1 a song, you can rent a movie for $2.99 and get online instant delivery.
