6 Weeks Later, The .ME Auctions Are Finally Over

The .ME Auctions, which have been going on since late July,  finally ended today, with projects.me selling for $1,410.

By my count 2,140 domains were sold between $75 to $90,025.

The registry hauled in just about $2.2 million dollars over the auction.

These auctions were for any .me domain backordered by more than one person before the landrush.

The complete list of .Me domains auctioned are here:

Now comes the real fun.

As predicted weeks ago, the first 12 reserved .me domains will be auctioned off by the .me registry at the Live TRAFFIC Moniker.com domain auction in New York in just over 2 weeks.

Those 12 names are:

Love.Me

Buy.Me

Date.Me

Meet.Me

Ask.Me

Show.Me

Kiss.Me

Rent.Me

Watch.Me

Marry.Me

Loan.Me

Play.Me

I agree .me is a complete .waste. If .me was the only extension today it would take at least 10 years and a new search engine giant to reach developed popularity of .com. I would rather buy property in Mars.

I really wonder what is the percentage of purchased .me domains truly meant for development?

I also heard .travel is gonna explode!! Go get some while they’re still good ones left!!

    Nice ones:

    Love.me
    Play.me
    Kiss.me

Dot.ME is a great extension for branding. It’s a perfect marketing package where the domain is also the brand or service. Like successful.me for education, champion.me for a sports company, http://www.beerdrinker.me for a beer company. The advertising community will make use of the intrinsic names.

.Travel is being relaunched with the restrictions taken off the extension

.ME is quite catchy, and I can imagine it will be used creatively in marketing campaigns. I think it may end up like most TLDs, that experienced high popularity during the launch phase, and then faded into obscurity after. It may hve the same faith as .TV?

I still think DOT FM is better than DOT ME. What do you’ll think?

    Absolutely not.

Look at the sales of .me at auctions, whether it was the drop auction, TRAFFIC auctions, Sedo or NameJet.com or even domainfest.com.

.fm have never sold for anything that a good .me has sold for

    MHB,

Appraise DOT FM against DOT ME, DOT TEL, DOT NL, DOT CC, DOT BIZ, DOT IT and many other and you will see that DOT FM always has a higher appraisal. And, it is easier to remember.

Appraisals are fine, but there are no sales to back them up.

Name me the 5 highest .fm sales of all time

    Reg. fee is high on DOT FM. but look at these sites: dave.fm , lounge.fm , bob.fm, Peru.fm, payday.fm , living.fm, ed.fm and many others….

    Don’t forget last.fm

Not saying the extension has no use, but as a domain holder the aftermarket sales are not their to support its value, compared to .me

    MHB,

If you develop a DOT FM site, it will give you more revenue(+). And, DOT ME is good for sites like kiss.me, forget.me, recycle.me. But not good for business.me , airplanes.me, dogs.me, cellphones.me…..
