.NYC Landrush Auctions Are Underway

October 23, 2014 by Michael Berkens

The landrush auctions for .NYC domain names are underway at SnapNames.com according to someone who is involved in the auctions.

We previously announced that the auctions would start today on a staggered 3 stage basis going through November 6th.

We understand that not everyone who submitted a landrush application went ahead and established a valid account at Snapnames.com.

In the cases where more than one landrush application was submitted but the other applicants for the same domain did not establish their snapnames.com account, those domains were awarded on one bid.

The minimum bid is $10 for any .NYC domain landrush domain.

So those domain names were awarded for $10.

I’m told that the highest domain this one domain investor has on his auction sheet is two at just over $1,000.

The first round of landrush .NYC auctions close in 4 days.

I am in the auction for some of the names. Haven’t seen anything super high yet, all under 200 so far.

Only one has over 10 bidders, I think 1-2 have between 5-10 bidders, most are under 5. Good amount of the auctions is 2 people.

Ok one name is breaking out to over 500 right now, but i am pretty sure it will be 10 times that by the end of it.

It’s a public city enterprise, if they don’t publish the auction revenue numbers I’m sure it’ll be subject to the freedom of information act

all mine are sitting. Also if there is anyone who goes by mrbc , let me know. Since you and i have a number of auctions that we are the only bidders, hence it would be smart if we can split them among ourselves by preference. Without throwing bunch of money first.

        Re: mrbc:

The first thing that pops into my mind for mrbc is “Mr. B.C.” (as in British Columbia). If correct, then at least your list of candidates can be reduced to:
        ➤ major domain-investors;
➤ currently living (or lived previously) in British Columbia.

Well he is going to take it hard tomorrow. He better hope he is major domain investor, since i will be pillaging a lot of stock tomorrow.

mbrc is in many of my auctions too. trying to figure out who they are. a domainer no doubt.

He is spreading himself too thin, unless he sitting on giant bankroll , it might not turn out the way he is hoping. He is in for a whole range of industries it seems. If its a domainer, i am not too worried, as long as its not some large company deciding to pouch.

it’s also possible the guy will default on 90% of his bids. The second highest bidder would then get it but that’s small consolation if the number got driven up to $2000 instead of $20

Yep, but unlikely. Too many valuable domains, somebody who wins, will usually want to keep it. If this was xyz, that scenario would have been much more likely.

Real, send me an email, since i dont use twitter. My email is Dan_kairo@yahoo.com ,send me a shout. Will updated on whats happening in mine, mrbc is getting left in the dust in some auctions already, since some people really want them.

I dont belive he has as deep pockets as he is trying to show. Maybe he is trying to overcompensate for it by showing high bids early. Unless he is really willing to spend a fortune on this, i dont see him winning a lot of them. Especially super premium once.

      Just found this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xtpxkZDgmbHOmmgqHf7TV5_NeweKikcYL-4OfAI_GVs/edit?pli=1#gid=0

Possibly helps match you up with the other bidders for you to both discuss things!
