According to many new sources hundreds of thousands of people are going to lose their internet connection.
On Monday, July 9th, the FBI is pulling the plug on internet access to hundreds of thousands of computers infected with a malware Trojan known as DNSChanger.
The FBI is shutting down the Internet servers it temporarily set up to support those affected back in November which will knock all those still infected offline.
Companies that have compromised systems in their network will be taken offline as well effecting some without having the virus on their computer.

Hello MHB
Now we may see the S…t fly , from an occurrence whose end result reflects very similar results
to having your own site Hi-Jacked away from you !
Should be an Eye Opener and hopefully a Call To Action for domainers to realize the serious flaws in UDRP and all other so called protections for “Virtual Business Foundations , which by the way affect not only Domainers, but also All the Big Fish in the .COM Channel!
Gratefully, Jeff Schneider (Contact Group) (Metal Tiger)

In other words, the FBI studied the browsing habits of several hundred thousand computers and will be ending its research.

Acro nails it.

Why do they say “lose your internet connection”?
That is complete BS.
You are still connected.
DNS != internet connection.
It’s like saying if you can’t dial directory assistance you lose your telephone connection.
Of course not!
These “alerts” are not helping anyone. Users need instructions on how to change settings, not directions to visit some webpage that will “test their connection”.
Every internet user should know how to look up IP addresses just as every person who uses a telephone should know how to look up a number in a telephone book.
If you rely only on directory assistance whenever you need a number, you can expect to pay extra costs. Same goes for DNS. If you rely on DNS, then you can expect occasonal complications and costs: e.g. lots and lots of millisecond delays that accumulate – it’s one of the primary causes of slowness of internet browsing. Looking up the same numbers day after day.

Well, you are still connected, but whatever domain you type in won’t resolve, as the DNSchanger changes the where your system request the lookup of a domain. If these servers are down, there will be no response and you will get an error message in your browser.
Shutting down these DNS servers of this malware won’t really help, as for sure they can remotely update it, once the person goes online.
