Sedari Launches “Guess the Numbers Game” For New gTLD Program

January 2, 2012 by Michael Berkens

Sedari.com a consulting company in the new gTLD space launched today a “Guess the Numbers Games” contest,  where you can place you guess on the number of new gTLD  applications that will be received by ICANN, during the Application period which opens on January 12th for 3 months.

“Enough of the old year, enough of the old Internet, let’s have some new year fun” says Sedari’s chief marketing officer Jennie-Marie Larsen at the launch of the Sedari Guess the Numbers Game.

“”Speculation over just how many top-level domain name applications will be submitted has been rife over the last year. Some have said hundreds, others optimistically have predicted thousands. ”

“The Sedari game allows its web visitors to make a one-time guess on the actual number of top-level domain name applications ICANN will receive between 12 January and 12 April 2012. The correct number will be that announced by ICANN after the closure of this round.”

“Philip Sheppard, Sedari’s policy director urges speed: “Hurry, because a little like domain names themselves, there is only one number available for each guess.”

Sedari will announce the name of who got it right on 1 May 2012 coincident with the publication of the list by ICANN.

The prize?

Bragging rights in and outside of the ICANN community. “”The winner will get publicity and the admiration of the entire ICANN and domain name world for getting it right.”””

I think the application period is 3 months? (Jan 12 to Apr 12) and May 1 is when the public can see what/who applied for what.

well if it is less than 300 i guess they will have some egg on their face, eh. Off the record i will throw a shot in the dark – 151

also bragging rights is pretty lame. if anyone at ICANN had an ounce if inspiration, they’d launch a contest where the winner is awarded a free gTLD application. now THAT would generate some buzz.

maybe someone should hire me to consult
