If .xxx domain names are so good…why didnt anyone bid on premium .xxx domains at Traffic Auction…movies.xxx, singles.xxx, personals.xxx…none of these sold!

The pornhub network does NOT let you advertise .xxx domains…

Good Luck trying to get traffic to your .xxx sites…

Get ready for a PUMP and DUMP…

You’re in the PUMP stage right now…

Going to be taking a DUMP very soon…

I also bought .XXX domains during the founders program, there are many stories that have been written on it

I don’t think that anybody has missed the fact that you are biased in that question. Personally (even though I am a big critic of .xxx), I see no problem in that precisely BECAUSE you are transparent. I know it is not easy all the time, and regardless of somebodies stance in this question (we all have one), it should not matter as long as there is an open flow of information for people to make up their own minds.

I have been following domains for ca 10 years now and this is my favorite blog on the subject. I am thankful.

Were/are all of your .xxx acquisitions single words or do you have multiple keyword .xxx domains also?

    Jim

I have multiple keywords as well

    Thanks Michael
And, although it’s very much subjective, you see value in these as a domain investor?

    Jim

yes I have openly invested into the six figures into .xxx domain names so yes I see them as having a lot of upside.

Like always I’m a long term investor and don’t expect to pop any sales for a few years.

In the meantime I hope with all the marketing ICM has planned that they will get meaningful traffic within a year

I am an adult webmaster and there is no way on earth I am going to move a single, .com/.net/.us/.biz/.info or dot .de to a .xxx

.xxx costs ten times more, it is open to censorship as the registrar gets to decide what content is allowed, and blocked in India and China at ISP level before has even been launched. Not to mention that some adult sponsors do not allow you to make business on .xxx domains.

I don’t know what you paid for those .xxx domains, but I do know that your selling market is highly limited and at those renewal prices, good luck with it.

    Mary

    thanks

I would say blocking countries like India (still debated whether they in fact blocked it or not) and China is actually a good thing.

You’re not going to get a paying customer out of those countries and all they do is eat your bandwidth.

Apart from that I would say life is long, the Internet in terms of domains is pretty new, lets call it no more than 15 years old and more realistically for most people no more than 10.

We also have the possibility of having a vertical domain name system if hundreds or thousands of new gTLD’s come on board in the new few years.

I still own thousands of adult .com’s and not planning on dropping them.

I think .xxx represents a new market a new investment opportunity.

I still don’t think that domain names is a zero sum game where to win or make money in an extension another extension has to lose.

the internet is growing many times over in the next few years in terms of users, saturation and websites.

Like anything else in life its a risk but there is huge upside for $100 investment.

Frank Schilling bought the best .xxx domains

I was going to place a bid for singles.xxx for $50k, but there was not much action for .xxx domains at Traffic Auction…so i changed my mind.

I have a question. Rick owns porno.com … so does that mean he gets the first chance to register porno.xxx

Good luck to all risk takers….hope you make millions!!!

    @Mary

1.Whether you want to move your sites to .xxx or not, thats your choice. The fact is , the .xxx extention stands up as the number one place for only high quality products and upmarket services and brands.
    2. The greatest thing about .xxx is its responsibility to our society. In fact this is the time we need this kind of business , a revolutionary idea that benefits all members of the society and makes our world a safer , cleaner and happier place for all

I drank the same Kool-Aid as Ben and, man, it’s really groovy.

    Back to reality…

ICM has separate EPP commands for defensive registrations. In other words, they have an entire subsystem devoted to that element of their registry.

Their plan and intent is clear. This is not a registry for content (the industry is not playing their game and no one is going to give them content), it’s one for extortion of trademark holders, and maybe there will be a little content on the side.

Their whois is shoddy. It doesn’t even return valid html. And where is the port 43 access? C’mon guys, get it together.

Just my opinions, of course. The owners of key generics will do fine, based on type-in alone. They need not worry about whether .xxx has a stellar reputation. And ICM will make money. But there is nothing to be proud of here. It’s a money grab by ICM and a few privileged domainers, with little to offer the web comunity.

In 2013 I purchased some.xxx domains from GoDaddy.com and 101Domain.com under the impression that I had the rights to the .sex and .porn versions of all the names that I had purchased until ICAAN disallowed this. Does anyone have documentation regarding this information?
