This morning I wanted to let everyone know of a different kind of auction.

A charity auction ends later today, for THE pair of gloves worn by Santonio Holmes when he made the SUPER BOWL GAME WINNING CATCH, for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Superbowl XLIII, held in Tampa a couple of weeks ago.

These are the actual gloves he wore when he caught the pass to win the game.

The gloves are autographed by Santonio Holmes.

When I first heard about the auction I thought that the gloves would certainly sell in the six figures.

Record setting Sports Memorabilia, like home run setting record baseballs have regularly sold in the six figures.

After all, its arguably the best catch in Super Bowl history, in arguably the greatest Super Bowl game ever played, which  give the Steelers an historic sixth NFL championship.

However, with about 19 hours to go, at the time of publication, the gloves have a high bid of just $21,600.

All proceeds of the auction go to the benefit of the Sickle Cell Disease Association.

So not only would you be getting a one of a kind collectors item but your money would be going to help cure a terrible disease.

The auction has a buy it now price of $1,000,000 but it seems that they buyer might get a great deal here.

Just for the record I’m a football fan but not a Steelers fan, who the item should ideally go to.

Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin and a stellar defense, made Coach Urban Meyers, the first coach to win two BCS National Championships.

As we all know great achievements are hard to accomplish.  At times like these I think of all the sports fans who never get to experience victory.  I feel for the poor Cubs fans, who rooted for their team there whole life, never to see them win.  With that in mind, I feel very fortunate that I was in attendance in Glendale 2 years ago and today to see both BCS Champinionships.

So its time to celebrate, jump up and down, because today, like the cheer goes, “its great to be a Florida Gator.”…

Saturday Night Tim Tebow become the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy.

For those who aren’t big sports fans, here’s what you need to know; Tim’s not just a superman on the field but a great person off the field.

On the field, Tebow became the first player in NCAA history to run for at least 20 touchdowns and pass for at least 20 touchdown in the same season.

Tebow was second in the nation in passing efficiency (177.9) completing 68 percent of his passes for 3,132 yards, with 29 touchdowns and just six interceptions.

Tebow also ran for 838 yards, setting an Southeastern Conference record of 22 touchdowns on the ground.

Tebow’s 51 combined touchdowns is also a NCAA record.

Off the field Tebow is equally impressive.

Tebow grew up in the Philippines, his parents are missionaries (their site is www.btea.org), Tim Has done much missionary work himself, counseled many prisoners, visited many hospitals and orphanages. By all accounts he is a humble, hard working, deeply religious individual. Many say he is just too good to be true. He is a hero of many including myself.
