thanks to the upcoming high speed internet connection, a domain like OnlineRealty.com could have a good use and a quickly growing value

    I thought servicedapartments.com for $ 18K. was an
    interesting auction last week.

Initially, I thought it was a typo of Service Departments.
I’m sure the buyer wanted it for Serviced Apartments.

Two-word [Adjective Noun] are stronger for brands.

    onlinerealty.tv Available $12.99

    greentags.co Available $27.99

    openhealth.tv Available $12.99

It is surprising people pay large sums for .COM domains and ignore .TV and .CO

If the U.S. Government forces everything back to .COM only, then the domain
becomes a TLD and a stronger brand. People may be counting on legislation to
do that, or a significant fracturing of the net into .COM and (other).

OnlineRealty.com went for WAY TOO MUCH. In fact, we were active bidders and dropped out at low x,xxx. 12K had it not been for 2 guys going back and fourth this would have closed at under 5K

“These certificates can be sold and traded or bartered, and the owner of the REC can claim to have purchased renewable energy.”

When one says “way too much”, they probably should add “for me”.

It wasn’t too much for the 2 bidders.
It should be worth a lot more to a potential enduser.

If the real estate community knew the domain was in auction,
they probably would have bid it a lot higher.

If someone makes it into a strong real estate site, it could be worth ??

Interesting, while the market in general is stilll down the stupidity on drops continues…nothing new.

Whoever thinks onlinerealty.com went for too much should remember the commission on selling 1 house through a website on this domain would probably exceed $12,200.

Its a great name that has great value to anybody in the real estate business.

$12,200 was a very good price – now lets hope the buyer does more than just switch the dns and log out.

Realtor is a TM. Is “realty”?

  14. 2010 November 1

    @Anon

Realty is not a TM. It’s also not a commonly searched term which is why IMHO the price of this one was too high. I’m not going to argue my point here but if a realtor decided to use this name to market properties he’d have to have deep pockets to brand and promote this name.

Thanks for the clarification on the TM issue, but I do sense some sour grapes on your part…

Usually, when people get beat out in an auction then summarily start taking down whatever it is that moments ago they themselves were trying to buy, their perspective isn’t exactly rooted in objectivity. It kinda comes off like the kid who got rejected by a prospective date and sits home alone on prom night, thinking up 50 reasons why he didn’t want to take her to the dance anyway.

Honestly, the difference between the low XXXX you were bidding and the 12K it ultimately went for is peanuts relative to the upside, either reseller or development.

Interesting list. I am surprised that OnlineRealty.com sold for only $12K – i thought it would have sold for more. Also, I am surprised that just ask me got $2.8K
