The domain name HSBCbank.com sold yesterday on NameJet.com for $18,954.

HSBC is one of the largest bank in the world and its official site is at HSBC.com.

The domain sold on NameJet.com has some traffic according to Alexa.com and Compete.com.

Unlike a more generic domain Peoplesbank.com which recently sold on Namejet.com for $44K this domain that can easily be taken in a UDRP.

    Obvious trademark is obvious.

It’s sales like these that will encourage people to keep registering blatant TMs and ultimately enforce the belief by some that domaining and cybersquatting are one and the same.
It’s pretty poor form imo and it certainly does not do the domain industry image any good at all.

Someone at HSBC needs firing for letting it drop.

Maybe it was the same guy that already owns HSBCBank.co and he just fancied buying the .com as a potential typo :)

If there is a issue, the trademark holder has a HUGE responsibility for the issue.

OK so they change their domain from HSBCbank.com to HSBC.com but that $10 a year must be hard to swallow for them, after all there is no federal aid offered for domain name registrations

There must still be money to be made by those willing to do it in the tm space based on all these sales. With parking way down from 2 years ago I would have thought the risk has surpassed the reward. Perhaps this domain would hve sold or double 2 years ago.
