WOW: New Record Of $53K For AutoGlass.co Highlights Another $500K In Land Rush .Co Auctions
The .Co registry has send me a 4th round of results for the ongoing .Co domain name Land Rush Application auctions.

The results are this time around is another record; $514,000 in sales on just 90 domains.
WOW
AutoGlass.co lead the way selling for $53,000.
Closely behind are two great legal domains, DuiAttorney.co and DuiLawyer.co which went for $44, 500 and $43K respectively.
As a holder of a large legal portfolio I couldn’t be happier with the result (I did NOT buy either of these, nor was I in the auction)
Some interesting Geo domains sold.
We had a separate post on Boulder.co which sold for $17,000. Colorado.co sold for $7,900; a huge ski area telluride.co sold for $5,100 (I like that one better than Colorado.co) and durango.co went for just $2,800. The auction for Denver.co is just starting today.
Once again these are closed auctions which only include those who made a land rush application for each of the domain in auction.
Since they are in closed auctions, not opened to anyone but the applicants, it could be fair to assume that prices of these domains were in an open auction would be higher.
No doubt that .Co remains the biggest story in the domain industry this year.

I agree, NewYorkCity.co would be a gem. Really surprised that AutoGlass.co went for so much. It must be a fairly lucrative industry. Do see pretty frequent tv ads for auto glass repair/replacement.
Denver.co is a “best use” of the .co extension in my view.
Big question is… Who is snapping these up??! Is it domainers/speculators or actual end-users…….. Mhmmm :0

.CO has been marketed well, but the sizzle will not last forever.
$35K for DuiAttorney.org is a fair price for both the buyer and seller. ORG is an excellent extension for a legal term, far better than .CO
But, there is a lot of hype being priced into these landrush auctions like every landrush in the past.
As with most new extensions there are more dollars than sense. There is a lot of new money going into .CO and the truth is 99% of these domains will never be sold for higher prices.
The registry are the ones making money right now.

Oh, I notice something very interesting. I see DUIlawyer.co has sold for $42,000 and I know that DUIlawyer.com was sold for around $52,000
What this tells me is that the .CO s are fairly valued at 80% of their corresponding .COM s right now. And I believe eventually, it will even go higher because its shortened accesskey like characteristics. Folks, what can I say, this sort of chance only comes every 25 years.

I could say – Flying.com sold for $1.1M / Flying.co sold for $3,500. What that tells me is .CO is worth 1/3 of 1% of .COM
The fact is that you can’t take isolated sales at the peak of interest (landrush auctions) and make any blanket comparison.

You are only 1 out of thousands of people participating in these auctions. You might not pay even $100 for duilawyer.CO but the fact of the matter is this is an open marketplace and the best end user knows the fair value and there are always people that know the value and these values are what is fair in the marketplace today.
But we can expect these prices to increase over time. They always do. Plus by Christmas, 1,000,000,000 additional people are going to become aware of the .CO availability through twitter. Never underestimate the power of social awareness and marketing:

If we can take one isolated sale and conclude that .CO is worth 80% of .COM now and will be worth more later, I am free to make an equally stupid argument in response.
The truth is pick any recent extension. The landrush auctions are virtually the highest a domain will ever sell for as there is the most interest, and many new extension buyers are not exactly seasoned domainers as well.

Robert Cline, I think you might own a few “.co” names. I guess the only thing more hip than “.co” is having to throw an “e” in front of a domain. I can learn a lot from you.
I too wanted to get in on these auctions. I even emailed Coauctions.co that I wanted to participate and they said unless I had applied for them during the land rush period that I couldn’t participate. I was locked out. So I am sure there were a lot more people like myself that wanted a chance to acquire some of these valuable internet real estate that were locked out like myself. So if anything I can only imagine how much higher these prices would be if they were wide open to even people like myself. Oh boy oh my!
This tells me that these are the lucky people getting them for lower than what they would be in the open market. You will see these valuable domains increase in value.
My bet is still on that Slots.CO will fetch $XXX,XXX

I guess most of these are being purchased for the expected typein traffic, but what about names like indeed.co? I can’t see .co ever gaining any sort of popularity to inspire end user interest beyond the country it’s intended for. There simply can not be that many .co domains with enough traffic. Lots of people are going to be very disappointed here once they’ve gathered the stats..

GGG is a munich based porn movie publisher and the name of their biggest porn series with a ton of films. The Key is great for them and surley generates a lots of traffic, i think.

I agree with Robert. I don’t think it’s wise to underestimate the power of viral marketing, ie t.co’s ubiquity by Christmas. That in itself will misshapen the so-called new TLD bell-curve. Once again past results don’t guarantee future results so no need to compare with .mobi or the like. The dissemination of information, such as of a new extension or any new technology, for example, can flatten the current market in a flash. This has been proven by economic history. Not to say it will happen (I don’t have a crystal ball) but it is very possible.
I agree with Mike M. Those went pretty low. Betting.co was also surprisingly low. Had figured that one for about 25 G. Colorado.co was about right given it’s a repetition of sorts.

the GoDaddy domains search says that “ta.co is an invalid name”
so, why e.co has been registered, while, this two-letters domain can’t be?
@Andile: Don’t mean to sound cruel but those are worth less than reg fee imho. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder so you may get lucky.
Best bet is put up a sale page on each and hope you hit the lottery for a few hundred bucks. And toss them on Sedo to see if you can catch the wave before the hype dies down…and the hangover sets in.

What has been massively mismanaged has been people , who’se auctions have finished weeks ago – still do not have their names in their accounts. A rep at DomainMonster and Name.Com said that this was ther biggest issue at the moment-dealing with disgruntled winners of the auction with no name to show for it.
I take my hat off to .CO for its marketing blitz, but put it back on very quickly for its customer service.
