UPDATED: DotMedia.com Sells 14, 3 Number .Com’s For $152K, That They Just Bought Last Month
Anyone who still thinks there is no money to be made in the domain business unless you acquired the domain names years ago, needs to look no further than Dotmedia.com, a company run by a 22 year old in China.
His first sale was flipping, iblog.net, a domain he picked up for $10 for $500.
Fast forward a couple of years later to July of this year, when he acquired the following 14 NNN.com domains which he just sold at a nice profit, for $152K in a single sales transaction.
The domains sold were:
426.com – $10,000
496.com – $10,000
549.com – $10,000
437.com – $10,000
452.com – $10,000
471.com – $10,000
476.com – $10,000
743.com – $10,000
394.com – $12,000
644.com – $12,000
749.com – $12,000
942.com – $12,000
943.com – $12,000
924.com – $12,000
Nice
The buyer was Ian Andrew, of Dotcom Agency.
The company still has some gems like 74.com, 688.com, 636.com, 676.com and 838.com to name a few.
Point is there is plenty of money to be made in the domain business for old and new domainers.
So get to work.

Nice Flips… I have a friend that heard about the launch of the .CO from me…
He is not a domainer and he registered couple of .CO.
Today, He flip 2 of them for $250 each.
This is a profit of $440 in 2 weeks time… Not Bad !!!
What did he pay for the 14 names?
Inspiring news indeed.
a domainer sells his domains to another domainer, that sells them to another domainer, that sells again them to another one, and so on… how many domains sold are, later, really used?
Who knows, within what time frame are you talking and ultimately who cares?
well, the number “4″ in Chinese means ” die”, it’s hard to sell again to the Chinese market, paying $12000 for a domain like 549…(means i’m dying hard) is not worth it.
the buyer has other interesting sites:
dotcomagency.com/sitepages/about.asp
and I’ve send them a mail, to propose a co.uk
so, if they are REALLY buying good domains…
Good story.
Side note: I wish I had $500 in iBlog.net

I wonder if Ian could have saved some money if he bought them on the domain forums?
I believe I just saw a few of these for sale on the forums.
One I noticed was recently purchased 2 weeks ago on DNF.
The best deals in the domain industry are on the forums if the buyer
are willing to dig thru the sales threads.
I congratulate the seller.
You didn’t mention that the NNN seller just picked up DotMedia .com last week on NJ for $ 3,100. I thought that was a steal.
Meyer,
No Ian won’t save some money if he bought them on the domain forums, as I am the poster on the forums.
Yes DotMedia.com is a steal and i love it very much. I am open to contacts, so guys, email me.

DotMedia, Inc.
Nice sales but it would be nice to know what the actual profit was on them.
yeah that dotmedia. com is a SWEEEEET brand name, that was a nice win at namejet…congrats to ya !.
I’m in an auction just now for DotStore(.) com but I think it will be going for more than I can pay just now.
Oh well, plenty more great brandable names seem to be dropping lately
…happy hunting!
What was the sale venue?
Tri
This was a private sale through escrow.com
Not completely private
hard to believe that these numbers have a value
they look more like a sort of “domainers’ currency”
while, the iblog.net value, should be higher than just $500
The bottom line is that Domain Names are the best possible alternative investment out there. Nothing comes close. The sooner the general public realizes it the better off we’ll all be.
Limited Supply of NNN.coms (1000) and NNNN.com (10,000) with HUGE DEMAND from China/Asia = Higher Prices.
Some heavy bidding during .CO landrush for NNN domains
“Limited Supply of NNN.coms (1000) and NNNN.com (10,000) with HUGE DEMAND from China/Asia = Higher Prices.”
true… it’s the #1 economy’s law… but, at the end of the story, if the 426.com domain will be sold for $30,000 to someone, the last owner should use it for “something” of profitable, to avoid, the money spent, to being wasted
“The bottom line is that Domain Names are the best possible alternative investment out there. Nothing comes close. The sooner the general public realizes it the better off we’ll all be”
I agree wholeheartedly with Mr Castello, only I would leave the word alternative out in his above statement.
Hello,
I trying to grab that domain name DotMedia.com and budgeted around $6000 for it. However i was in a meeting at that time. Was a grab for the buyer. Congrats.
Is this really newsworthy when the purchase price isn’t even stated?
Anyone care to share the price/profit?
If it was 140K cost and a 152K sale it would
be impressive but not unheard of. If it was 14K
that would be something….
I am Interested in buying more NNN.com names…
Also NN.com and NNNN.com names.
Thanks,
Ian.
ok, you buy .com domains… but how much pay them???
Guys
We are not going to allow sales to be negotiated on the blog.
Please use the hotlinks on the user names to contact each other
ok
Funny, he just acquired DotMedia.com in a drop auction too
So how long ago did he start selling the domains?
Suraj
Yes he did
He sold the group of 14 in the last week or so
Impressive!
Nice! Would be nice to know what the purchase price was, but nonetheless, profit is profit. Posts like this make for a hot bowl of inspirational soup! mmmmm…..

The Seller did not want to disclose his acquisition cost, but I discussed it with him and any one of us including myself would be happy with the profit he made
I speculate the same seller also sold 591. com on Sedo last week
for 19K euros (us$ 25,150.)
On the surface, it appears Ian got a good deal.
I sold Ian 93.com a couple years ago or so. Ian has quite the porfofolio, his games are very addicting lol I swear after seeing what he did with them I was up for hours one evening.
@MHB
..again I say, profit is profit
It sounds like this kid has his ducks in a row. Good luck to Ian with the acquisitions as I’m sure he has some profitable plans of his own
Let the good names FLO!!
I have sold domain with number to a Chinese man
the domain like LLN.COM …
btw some big websites in east Asia uses numbers for there domains .
