The Next BIG Thing Is 3D: Who Owns Best Domains? (Hint: Its not Me, Frank, Kevin Or Even Rick )
I sure blew this one.
But at least I’m not alone.
The next big thing is going to be 3D.
3D was the talk of the Consumers Electronic Show in Vegas in January.
3d Tv’s are already on sale and the World Cup was broadcast by Directv in 3D.
ESPN is launching its own 3D channel any day now on Directv.
Yup its going to be huge and I missed to boat completely.
However it doesn’t look like I’m alone.
Looking through the best 3D domains I could think of it doesn’t look like Frank, Kevin or even Rick locked up any of the best 3D domains or at least what I consider to be the best of the best.
I thought it would be interesting to take a look to see who owns the best of the 3D domains.
Lets start with the 5 star domain for the topic, 3D.com.
Its owned under privacy at Network Solutions.
The domain name was created all the way back in 1994.
The domain goes to a Net Sol, parked page so whoever owns it, isn’t making any money off of it, and it does get thousands of visitors a month according to Compete and Alexa.
A Waste.
3DTV.COM Is owned by an end user, Brad Beckerman of Beverly Hills, California
Its actually a pretty cool flash site you should check it out.
3DTELEVISION.COM and 3DGlasses.com are owned by an end user, Deep Vision 3D, of Hollywood, CA, although the 3dtelevision.com domain is not resolving properly for me the company sells 3DGlasses on the 2nd domain.
The domain, 3-DGLASSES.COM is owned by an end user, Theatric Support of Studio City, California
3DTVS.COM is registered to Jon Schultz of Blue String Ventures, Inc.
The domain, 3-dtv.com goes to a parked page and is under privacy.
Ted Amaradidis of Delray Beach Florida, owns 3-DMOVIES.COM and 3Dmovies.com and 3Dmovies.tv
3DTELEVISIONS.COM is owned by domainer, Gregg Ostrick of GNO, Inc.
3DSPORTS.COM is owned by our good friend Chad Folkening of Ecorp.
3DMOVIETHEATERS.COM is owned by Ralf Schumacher, who is another fellow I know pretty well.
3DTHEATERS.COM is owned by a Daniel Symmes of Woodland Hills, CA and is another domain not resolving properly.
The domain name, 3DADVERTISING.COM is owned by our good friend Stephen Douglas of Success Click.
The domain 3dprojectors.com is owned by Scott Bennett of Glasgow who is using it for a blog.
3DGAMES.COM is owned by another good friend and ICANN’s worst nightmare, George Kirikos.
3D.TV and 3-D.Tv are both owned by a Guy named Ben Geren.
(If you are not familiar with Mr. Geren He also owns some of the best possible .FM domains, including Rock.FM, HipHop.FM, Classical.FM, and Country.FM, ClassicRock.FM, and Oldies.FM just to name a few as well as some pretty good .TV Domains including, wireless.tv, channels.tv. concerts.tv and cinema.tv)
Congrats boys, you own part of the future and you all kicked my ass.

@ Jack Yes we are all in on 3D When 4k glasses free tv becomes mainstream and 3d high res computers glasses free hit the market 3D ads will be everywhere, Right now its a wait and see game BUT 3D is not going to go away Its going to be perfected, Thats when the 3d.coms will start to explode. IMO As far as insure your breasts new 3d mammograms may open the market to insuring breast and all the things associated with it We shall see.
CES 2012 news
OLEDS
The most beautiful sets at CES are OLEDs: Organic Light Emitting Diodes. They have much higher contrast than current LED sets because light can be turned off on a per pixel basis. Dark scenes are the blackest of blacks, displaying in rich deep colors without the blooming of light that affects other LCD and LED TVs.
OLEDs are super thin at just 3/16ths of an inch. In fact, some are so thin that the power ports and connectors need to be housed in the stands, not on the set itself.
OLEDs use half the power of current HDTVs and some sets will consume less energy than a 50-watt bulb. And, finally, the dreaded motion blur of LED and LCDs (when sports and fast action appear blocky) almost completely disappears with OLEDs.
I’ve seen small 12 and 20 inch prototype OLEDs in past years at CES, but never a true big screen option that is in production and planned for release. But, this year is different. LG has a 55 inch OLED on display, and Samsung is rumored to have another OLED debuting this week. The prices on these sets will be ridiculous, in the $8,000-10,000 range, but predictions from analysts say that by the end of 2013 they’ll be more like $4,000. Availability is still a little unclear, although rumors of late 2012 availability are in the air.
4K and 8K TV resolution
Another trend at CES is more higher resolution TVs than ever. 4K and 8K, respectively, double and quadruple the resolution of the highest High Definition sets now on the market. Panasonic, Sharp, Samsung and most other TV manufacturers are going for this crisper, more vivid resolution as an incentive to get consumers to trade in their old TV sets. But this technology is still a ways from everyday reality, and CES may prove a litmus test on whether attendees think the 4K sets are that much more visually compelling. Even more of an inhibitor to 4k/8K TVs is that they will mandate all new source video and new cameras and infrastructure from TV networks and production companies.
3DTV
One other big news item here surrounds 3DTV. 3D is dead. Long live 3D!
In the early press releases from manufacturers, there has been very little mention of 3D. It seems they now understand that most consumers aren’t willing to pay much more for a TV with 3D. It’s being seen as less of a feature, more of a gimmick.
That being said, there is early buzz around Toshiba and the company’s statement that they will have a glasses-free, big-screen 3DTV available for sale within the year according to CNET news. This is a big departure from other manufacturers like Samsung who’ve managed expectations by saying they don’t expect to have glasses-free technology ready for market within 10 years.
GESTURE CONTROL- AN END TO THE REMOTE CONTROL?
The success of the XBOX Kinect that uses your body to control gaming has spawned a whole new idea for interacting with your TV: gesture control. Imagine flicking your wrist to mute the volume, raising your arm to pull up the guide and grabbing or swiping to select a show. They’ll even have facial recognition to turn on your favorite channels and volume presets when you walk into the room.
PrimeSense, the company behind the Kinect’s gesture control is showing off a TV driven with the same technology and Samsung is rumored to be debuting sets with this user same type of user control.
SMART INTERNET CONNECTED TVS
Internet connected sets are becoming completely mainstream so expect a lot of products to tout Google TV built into their sets. One cool product for people whose existing sets aren’t connected yet, and who don’t want to upgrade, is a new product from Roku. It’s small stick about the size of a USB stick that you plug into your TV through a slot called the MHL port (many TVs have these ports — check your spec sheet or the back of the TV for something that looks like a micro USB port) for wireless access to Netflix, Youtube and a whole host of independent Internet content providers. No price yet, but estimates are centering on the $50 range.

3DKidsNetwork.com in the portfolio
@Futrs
Regarding “HologramTv.Org” I let that drop mate because Stephen Douglas owns the trademark “HologramTv”
I checked on http://www.uspto.gov/ebc/tess/ and there is no TM on this term
Unless its a new TM and hasn’t appeared yet?
@giles
Ive had the conversation with Stephen, trust me, its a trademark! Check out hologramtv.com as well. I do let names drop for a reason!
If it’s not on uspto.gov it’s not trademarked Keep the domain until you get a clarification There is no technology yet for this name so I doubt a TM would be granted Just my O
Just looked on the uspto.gov and no mark for hologramtv at all . Stephan may want to look into this

Im loving my HTC EVO 3D by the way, the 3D Camera is superb on it, dont think I will take another picture in 2D again. Also, had a party last night and recorded loads of 3D video footage on the phone, when I was watching it back this morning it felt like I was in the room experiencing it all over again, so real and great to watch.
Cheers.
…..Also, YouTube 3D is brilliant, plenty of 3D footage to download, sport, animation etc..
Cheers.
New 3D-Printed Plastic Heat Exchanger Shows Complex Geometries Are Possible from Additive Manufacturing
http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/new-3d-printed-plastic-heat-exchanger-shows-complex-geometries-are-possible-from-additive-manufacturing-137881388.html
Regarding Stephen trademarking HologramTV – obviously as a top domainer this guy knows what he’s talking about, but it is an interesting development if you can now trademark a domain name in one extension, and then nobody can register the domain with a different extension without infringing the trademark. I mean if he has actually succeeded in doing that, that’s epic. That should be being talked about in hundreds of domain name/affiliate marketing/ adult webmaster forums, because the implications are massive.
I know that in the adult webmaster community there was talk of .com owners trademarking their domains as protection against .xxx effectively stealing their brand and net presence. And I can see that a site like, for example, Brazzers.com could legally have ‘Brazzers’ trademarked in order to stop a rival setting up Brazzers.xxx – but Brazzers.com is an established website that has been in business for years and which has successfully established itself as a brand.
But if Stephen has managed to do it with a site that isn’t selling anything, and which is promoting a technology that is still years away, and which is a generic term for the (putative) technology being promoted, then as I say, the implications are huge.
Hopefully Stephen will explain the trademark here sometime.
Thanx for that link, @ MHB. 3D printing is heating up both as a market, and investment interest. Several searches on 3D printing investment sent visitors to my site, MobileTech.tv ever since I published that article about 3D printing stocks, so I have to follow it up with more info about 3D printing companies . . .
@ Holo Tv
I posted on successclick.com that i have renewed the domain – hologramtv.org , then a few posts later I get this response -
“By admin on Nov 2, 2011
Stu, check HOLOGRAMTV.COM. We own the TM on the phrase “HOLOGRAM TV™”. Contact me immediately.”
@Futrs
Have you spoken to Stephen yet?
Oh. Oh. Oh.
