If GM Doesn’t Want Anyone To Use The Word Chevy, Why Are The Promoting ChevyBaseball.com?

You got to love corporate America.

Last week there was a big stink when an internal GM memo got leaked to the media, telling its employees that it didn’t want them to refer to Chevrolet  as “Chevy” anymore.

Yet last night I was watching ESPN’s Sportscenter and during the highlights of the Cubs-White Sox game there behind home plate, wasa huge ad for ChevyBaseball.com

Right the same week they tell all of their employees not to udder the word Chevy ever again the have a huge ad running behind home plate of the third largest media market in the country for what else but Chevy.

Even better on the front page of the site the term “Chevy” appears five times, the term Chevrolet appears, well not once.

Today I also received an e-mail sent from MLB also advertising the campaign for Chevy

I guess someone didn’t get the memo.

Why would anyone expect anything different from a government owned entity? Expect far more similarly stupid, poorly implemented, and ultimately ignored directives and regulations.

(Loved the memo citing Coke as a brand example, not realizing that it was short for Coca Cola. Morons.)

Wow, I had not heard that! “Chevy” has been well branded in the American marketplace. I think it would be a mistake if GM really adopted elimination of the term. It’s been used for decades by a huge, loyal consumer base. Sounds like the memo might be a hoax.

No hoax, just unbelievably believable government influenced ineptitude. Get ready for similar and worse with health care.
