According to a study by the University of Maryland, American college students are hooked on cellphones, social media and the Internet,

In the study, 200 students were asked to give up their Internet and cell phones and after 24 hours many showed signs of withdrawal, craving and anxiety along with an inability to function, showing symptoms similar to drug and alcohol addiction.

So are we as a society addicted to the Internet?

Are you?

When was the last day you went without checking your e-mail, or used the internet?

I personally don’t remember what day that was.

I am not addicted to the internet, but I am addicted to this domain industry. I thought after 13 years, I might burn out but more excited then ever.

I work between 2-5 hours a day on my business. Outside of that, I am offline, no laptop, no iphone, no internet connection. I have to be, I take care of my 2 year old twin daughters and they require my full attention when they are awake.

    Thanks, Jim

Well, hate to say it, but I can’t live without the internet.

I live all the way in China and when I fly back to the USA, its 24 hours in the air with a couple stops around the 10th hour and 18th hour.

First time going back, I would go into denial mode, start running around the plane frantically looking for wifi signals. The stewardess was curious and concerned why I was walking around with my phone in my hand from front to back of the plane so notified the plane security. I know, it wasn’t fun explaining I am not a white terrorist with remote detonator in my hand but instead an internet junkie hoping to find a wifi signal.

Then I got a satellite phone only to find out over the ocean the billing would be $4 a MB rather then the 0.50 a MB advertised when on actual land area. Then I said fck it and found Ambien Sleeping Drugs.

    Problem solved.

Some days when I am too tired to do any more work online, I get an Ethernet cable intravenously fitted into my body, so that way I always stay connected to the Internet, even when I am asleep.

I wouldn’t say I am addicted to the internet, yet if I had to decide to take the red pill, or the blue pill, then I would take both.

Maybe I am an addict and haven’t realized it.

If I have to go to Internet AONYMOUS, the the first session better be free and online.

I like to take jungle trips, mountain trips, remote location trips.

When I go I don’t have Net access, cell phone access, TV …..nothing.

As much as I love the Internet…….. getting away from technology makes me feel alive in a much different way. I like to get back to nature and remote places help me do this.

If I go to a remote city I like to go to one that has ZERO franchises…..no McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Hertz, etc…… 100% genuine life with no commercialism.

This makes me fell ALIVE !

I don’t have internet at home-I use it in the public library.
    No cable too.
Never bought anything on the internet and never will–just go to the 99cent store- after all I have been preaching others that all websites are full of BS!!! all blogs are self serving except this.

This is why younger people have no creativity…they are fed technology and when they do not get it…their minds are literally starving.

You don’t have to be in college to be addicted….my kids are still in school and have their cell phones grafted to their thumbs!! Thank God I got them Net10 phones at 10c per minute and 5c per text or I’d be bankrupt. But I must say this as a parent..thank you Lord that they are only addicted to texting and not to drugs!!
