Debts.Co.Uk Sold For Millions?

by Michael H. Berkens

According to a report, the domain Debts.co.UK was purchased with other assets for £2.7m in December 2009,  which at the time was equivlent to approximately $4 Million dollars.

The company Cleardebt bought the assets of Relax’s assets, including more than 6,500 Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs) and debt management plans, as well as the debts.co.uk domain name, from the administrators.

Since this was not a pure domain sale we may never know the price attributed to just the domain, and therefore wouldn’t make Ron Jackson List at DNJournal.com

Its certainly one of those businesses that seems to have been build around a great domain and one might assume had Relax used something than other a category killer domain, its may have not had the customer base to pull off a sale of this magnitude

If you guys really think ipad.com is worth a million dollars to apple, then how much do you think i-pad.com is worth?
You can buy it right now for only $3250.
    i-phone.com, i-pod.com is not owned by apple…so i guess apple doesn’t want i-pad.com either!
    iphone.com, ipod.com, ipad.com …these domain names

Surely it was the IVA & DM books, plus creditor interests that motivated the acquisition price, not the domain? Nice little freebie though.
