It’s a pretty safe bet that iSlate will be the name (or, less likely, Magic Slate). The preemptive strike made by MSFT, HP and a few others in referencing the tablet category as ‘Slates’ was actually brilliant, because it forces AAPL’s to come out of the lab that much sooner: which I think is what happened this morning when Orange’s exec confirmed “its” existence.

Moreover, their competitors’ moves actually compel AAPL to use the iSlate name, even if they weren’t planning to do so (which I’d have trouble believing). In fact, they’d be really dumb not to do so, now that there’s a newly created ‘Slate’ computer category — and they own the domain name and trademark that sits dead center, within the category.

This product will be introduced shortly, will be called the iSlate, and will serve as a new platform for hundreds of thousands of apps — particularly those serving different verticals, like healthcare (a la the story that broke this morning), law enforcement and sales.

So what is the difference between a NetBook, a Slate or a Tablet – other than sales hype ?
I will stick with traffic from CheapTablet(s).com going to CheapDrugs.com and doing a bit of remodeling with CheapSlate.com

however, it’s much more interesting to know which standard will win in the iTablet and eBooks readers markets to quickly exit today’s giant confusion of versions, operating systems, file formats, etc.

about the Apple tablet… personally I’ve several good ideas for a name+domain… but, I’ll not spend money to register them, since, at this point of the story, the REAL name, logo and domain of the Apple tablet has been already decided and put on the device’s case and manual …and on the slides of the upcoming “Apple Tablet Show” in late january…

I like the e-reader and netbooks, though I will buy the cheapest netbook today and hopefully get the Apple version by March.

While blogging, I read an article from TechCrunch about the Intel announcement of AppUp Center. Guess what? today the appupcenter.com just registered and parked, though Intel owned AppUp.com domain name.

Seems like the term, “smartbooks” is generating more substantive results…when I execute a Google search, several OEMs (Asus, Lenovo, HP, etc) are pushing this “smartbook” …
