"the Yellowstone Park isn’t Las Vegas and there aren’t as many “Yellowstone Parks” as insurance companies, so, two sites for one park, are more than enough for this niche market"

You have got to be kidding me. This park gets over 3 million visitors a year.
3300 searches a day according to Keyword Discovery is quite a niche. If you know of any other "niches" with 100,000 searches per month and only two main sites please let me know as obviously it will be of no good to you.=)

It's nice to see a .org fetch a healthy sum like that,
.org's have been selling like hotcakes recently

i believe the reasons for it are

1. people are getting smarter,
2. they realize that .org is a recognized and respected extension
3. they see more value in a short & easy to remember .org domains
4. who wants to type in a 3-4 word .com domain or some gibberish just to reach a website, especially on an iphone or blackberry

5. oh yes and SEO value for exact matches
6. much more affordable,
7. people selling .org domains are more open to do businessman

Sorry for calling you Miki, that was a typo Mike.

"with two active sites for one park there is no need for a third site"

???

Could you also say regarding Las Vegas:

"with two active sites for one city there is no need for a third site"

How about regarding insurance:

"with two active sites for one industry there is no need for a third site"

If I went by your logic I would still be waiting to make money online=)

With 150,000 searches a month for "Yellowstone National Park" someone can make some good money with a front page listing no matter how many competitors there are.

Your logic is very, very flawed.

This is not all that related or applicapable so forgive me for abousing your quality blog Miki but "Yellowstone National Park" gets about 50% more search engine searches than "Yellowstone" all alone and therefore in my somewhat limited opinion is a better domain.

I only say so because I recently bought YellowstoneNationalPark.net... lucky me, lucky me=)
