I agree with you.

Very few people type the www in anymore, many more will incorrectly type the .com, the question is can you make enough in just parking to cover $175 a year registration fee, assuming you can get the domain without going into an auction.

These will one day fade b/c just like all the www typo domains like wwwcars.com are losing traffic as each year goes by and folks wise up. That is why so many are dropping now.

I disagree. wwwdomain.coms don’t work anymore because nobody types www anymore. They just type domain.com. But people will always accidentally do a typo. It’s not as if they’re doing it on purpose

if a website receive most traffic from ads, backlinks or bookmarks, then .cm traffic will be lower than for domains which get most traffic from type ins.

I did 2 days worth of calculations. Leak is less than 0.1%. In other words, less than 1 / 1000 .com traffic ends up at .cm.

At that time google.com was over 6M so type-ins about 0.4%

Its anyone’s guess how much traffic these get.

I think the only ones who know are the hitfarm guys and those who bought the .cm domains at TRAFFIC Amsterdam.

Absolutely correct, but that isn’t all bad as long as your dealing in non-trademarked terms (unlike Gooogle.CM which is on the front page of NameJet right now).

You could also use it to protect your own brands.

I haven’t decided yet what to do with it.

I forgot to add…….you just know domain auto correction will be popular in the future as an plug in or something. Maybe even browsers will do it.

Buying heavily into these domains could be as dangerous.

Eventually folks will look at the domain they just typed in so they don’t waste time going to the wrong address.

There could be some short term money in this though for a few years.
