Nathan/Kellie,

I just stumbled across this site and am so happy you agree with my purchase of www.NYCAutoRepair.com. I was completely surprised there was no competition for it! I also picked up www.newyorkcityofficecleaning.com and www.newyorkcityaccountingfirm.com – both which rank on the first page for their key phrase - and lots of organic results and PPC competition, even with quotes! I also picked up www.DallasWelding.com, but that was for my little brother who obviously lives in Dallas and likes to weld. :) I've been complaining about this for a year, but I think the auction houses need to do a better job of promoting these auctions to the end users vs just the domain investors. I've had a hundred solid geo and keyword domains up for auction this year, at low reserves, and no sales. I just think we as investors (buyers) are not willing to pay what we, as investors (sellers), know they are worth to relevant end-user. I think I got very lucky with these purchases, but would rather see a larger market of business owners involved in auctions so that prices will begin to go up.

Best of luck to all in this fun and exciting industry!

Well, I just signed up for Own Frager's http://grandnames.com/vip/ because he has offered an alternative to the current auction houses, some of which employ business ethics that resemble the culture of the European magpie
Good luck to GrandNames I feel sue Owen has caught the wave

MHB - That's fair. I think there's also a matter of appropriate pricing on that side of things too. I remember looking at the list and seeing some decent names that I would consider paying a few hundred for, but the reserves were higher. It's encouraging to me that some people are willing to let the market set prices. Others want to hold out for more and that's fine. They'll just be waiting a little longer.

I am disappointed with the volume of sales considering there was like 3K domains in the auction.
