Buried Jersey Nets $175k

A few months ago we wrote how domains, like commodities and collectibles continue to increase in value in poor economic times.

Why because they are rare.

If there is only one of something, there will be a market for it.

Today there is further evidence of this.

The infamous David Ortiz Red Sox jersey that was buried and then dug up at the site of the new Yankee Stadium in the Bronx was auctioned off on ebay.com for charity.

The auction just ended with the final bid of $175,100.

The actual value of the Jersey $715.

This on a day when new home sales have fallen to the worst level in 16 years and the same day Sam’s Club and other similar stores, announced limits on sales of rice do to worldwide shortages.

Those domains you have, the ones that are generic and rare. Those domains are valuable and don’t let anyone tell you differently.

“Domain names are the primary way of mapping where domains are on the web and Matt expects that to continue. Domain names are important and inseparable going forward”
“Owning a keyword match domain name is going to carry some weight in Google for the foreseeable future. It is something they want to reward. “

Those domains you have, the ones that are generic and rare. Those domains are valuable and don’t let anyone tell you differently – I like your Statement – 100% TRUE and SPOT ON.
